In addition to opportunities for employment, RSD, Inc. can also provide training in other areas, based on the needs and desires of the person served. Training focuses on activities that increase participation and inclusion in the community, promote self-advocacy and independence, utilize natural supports, and offer more choices. Activities and training may include, but are not limited to: self care skills, socialization skills, communication skills, cognitive skills, leisure/recreational activities, cultural activities, religious activities, mobility training, academic skills training, medication management, human sexuality, housekeeping skills, menu planning, budgeting skills, work attitudes, safety, volunteering activities, citizenship training, and behavior management.

Our Agency strives to not only empower people in our services to make choices and decisions in their own lives, but actively involves them in decisions made in our corporation. For example, people in our services have the opportunity to be a part of the interview teams that hire staff to work with them. People also have opportunities to participate in our agency Consumer Advisory Council or be a member of our Board of Directors. Many people we support do volunteer work in the community and are active citizens.
